Daka, Kangwanda and Sakala Seal Moves as Kangwa Nears Panathinaikos Switch

Several Zambian footballers have secured moves abroad ahead of the 2026/27 season, while Chipolopolo midfielder Kings Kangwa is closing in on a switch to Greek giants Panathinaikos.

Patson Daka

Patson Daka has joined Bundesliga side Hamburger SV following the expiry of his contract with Leicester City, ending a five-year stay in England.

The striker made an immediate impression on his unofficial debut, winning the penalty from which HSV opened the scoring before netting the final goal in Saturday’s 3-1 pre-season victory over Heidenheim.

Albert Kangwanda

Albert Kangwanda has moved from Red Arrows to Tanzanian champions Young Africans SC after an outstanding 2025/26 campaign.

The winger, named the MTN Super League Player of the Season, recorded 17 goals and nine assists in all competitions as Red Arrows finished second in the league and lifted the ABSA Cup. His move to Yanga will also give him an opportunity to compete in the CAF Champions League.

Enock Sakala Jr

Enock Sakala Jr has completed a move to Kyrgyz Premier League side FK Abdysh-Ata Kant from UAE club Gulf United. The former ZESCO United striker leaves Gulf United approximately five months after joining the Dubai-based side.

Kings Kangwa

Meanwhile, Hapoel Be’er Sheva have confirmed reaching an agreement with Panathinaikos for the transfer of Kings Kangwa.

The midfielder is expected to play his final match for the Israeli champions against Vikingur Reykjavik in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers on Wednesday before travelling to Greece for medical examinations and the completion of the deal.

If finalised, Kangwa will add Greek football to a career that has already included spells in Russia, Serbia, Belgium and Israel.
